HIGHLIGHTING TV

KATHLEEN MCDERMOTT stars alongside Jaime Winstone and Davina McCall (as herself!) in Endemol produced Big Brother set horror-fest screening (is it Halloween already?) on E4. The website has brilliant teasers for the series (don't miss "get infected" – over 18 only) – watch the press for lots of coverage – this is the water cooler series of the autumn season (apart from Heroes, East Enders, River City of course..) ~ MICHELLE O'BRIEN, EILEEN MCCALLUM and GORDON MCCORKELL are all onscreen in RIVER CITY (BBC Scotland), JULIET CADZOW is in BALAMORY, JENNIFER LOWRIE is in HEDZ and ROSS ALLAN is in ME TOO! (CBBC) ~

 

JENNY HULSE has just wrapped true life first world war TV movie WALTER'S WAR for BBC4 ~ NEW CLIENT TONY MCGEEVER, GARY FRENCH and LORNA MCDEVITT are filming HOPE SPRINGS (Shed/BBC). Tony is playing regular character Ronan Harris, Gary is semi-regular character Stan and Lorna is Gail in ep. one of this Highlands set new series starring Alex Kingston to be networked in 2009 ~ Filming has completed for MARTIN DOCHERTY as Wallace on series two of the BAFTA award winning comedy DEAR GREEN PLACE (EffnGee/BBC Scotland). IAN GRIEVE guests in one ep. The series screens in Scotland on BBC this autumn ~ JAMES WATSON has just completed a role in new network sitcom LIFE OF RILEY (BBC) starring Caroline Quentin ~ TAGGART has claimed yet more victims: DONNA GIFFEN and new semi regular recurring WPC CHARLENE BOYD are filming SO LONG BABY (T99), SCOTT HOATSON, SUSAN COYLE and CHARLENE BOYD are filming FACT AND FICTION (T100) ~ 

 

Ongoing filming: for SHABANA BAKHSH on series four of WATERLOO ROAD - the series will screen from January 2009 and Shabana as young, footloose and romantic teacher Jasmine Koreshi is right at the centre of this season; JANINE MELLOR continues as Kelsey on CASUALTY; EILEEN MCCALLUM and GORDON MCCORKELL are filming the revamped RIVER CITY (BBC Scotland)

 

 

 

Film News

Watch out for BRYAN LOWE, DANIELLE STEWART and JULIET CADZOW in supporting roles in the adventure comedy about the theft of a Scottish icon - STONE OF DESTINY – on general release 10th Oct. ~ MARTIN COMPSTON begins principal photography on THE BEACH BOYS, filming until mid-November. The "Lord of the Flies" style story sees a group of uni. students clashing with local lads and lassies for control of a local beauty spot ~ Martin has THE DAMNED UNITED (also featuring STEWART ROBERTSON), FREAKDOG and just wrapped SOULED OUT all awaiting release ~ KATE DICKIE's next feature will be SHELTER for Irish debut feature director Ger Leonard shooting this autumn. Kate stars in SOMERS TOWN, on general release after winning the Best British Film award at The Edinburgh International Film Festival earlier this year. She co-stars with MATTHEW WORKMAN in SUMMER ( release date 5/12/08) for which Robert Carlyle was awarded Best Actor at the EIFF ~ Co-starring with Martin Compston, Kate has ROUNDING UP DONKEYS awaiting release ~ KATHLEEN MCDERMOTT and JENNIFER LOWRIE have just wrapped neighbour lust comedy short HEATWAVE for first time director Louise Lockwood (BBC) ~

HUNWICK HUGHES has been nominated for the Arts & Business Scotland Small Business Award 2008 in recognition of our sponsorship of the Royal National Theatre Connections Summer showcase in Scotland in 2007, supporting performances by eight youth theatre groups from Scotland, Ireland and Norway at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh. Maryam and Nick were also commended for supporting "opportunities for 1400 young people to participate in the Lyceum's Education programme and extend membership of the successful Lyceum Youth Theatre". The A & B Scotland Awards are being hosted at the Music Hall, Aberdeen on the 21st October.
