STRIKING RICH COMEDY

Software: Microsoft OfficeJORDAN YOUNG stars in SLICK (produced by Vox Motus and the Tron, Glasgow) which marries puppet bodies with human faces, a puppet theatre with live performers and a darkly comic story that takes the naive inhabitants of a Glasgow tenement on a journey of greed, avarice and, ultimately, murder. The world is seen through the eyes of Little Malcolm Biggar, a nine year old with a passion for his skateboard and an aversion to his paper round. In a building where the tenants have as little to do with each other as possible, Malcolm is the only linking factor, welcomed into each bizarre household and exposed to the vulnerable, ridiculous, grotesque lives of people behind closed doors.

TRAVERSE THEATRE

LISA NICOLL's play ACCEPTANCE "puts the spotlight on women and alcohol and its often uncomfortable impact on all areas of their life." ACCEPTANCE features Scarlet, a 30-year-old woman who started drinking at the age of 14. Her first drink led to her first cigarette, her first kiss - and 16 years on, Scarlet still believes that going out and binge drinking nearly every night is the way to make her happy and find the man of her dreams.

"It is definitely not autobiographical," says Lisa. "If it was about me I wouldn't have been able to Software: Microsoft Officework towards the success of the show because the character is a wreck by the end of it. But this is what could have happened to me and the stories are all true, and include things that have happened to me as well as the things I've seen and heard from my friends over the years - and I can't deny there are times when I've drunk too much - we all have." Lisa had just finished a stint in London on the 10th anniversary play of Trainspotting, when she decided to finally put on to paper the play she'd been writing in her head for years."

YOU WAIT FOR ONE THEN TWO COME ALONG!

Alison Peebles directs Karen Dunbar in A DRUNK WOMAN LOOKS AT THE THISTLE by Denise Mina

Karen Dunbar stars in Denise Mina's "A Drunk Woman looks at The Thistle". Ian MacDiarmid's epic exploration of Scottishness is horribly bastardized, stripped of all the high falutin' stuff and punctuated with cock jokes. They've got some cheek, haven't they? No, but really, haven't they?

"Bawdy, ballsy... barnstorming" ***** Metro

"A comic turn with insight and bite" The Herald

"Depressing..." The Scotsman

A DRUNK WOMAN LOOKS AT THE THISTLE is at the Assembly Rooms 31st July – 24th August
