at the EIFF 2009 (this is a talent showcase highlighting ten stars of the
future in the British Film industry and revealing their exceptional talents

star in WASTED – an uncompromising contemporary drama, a film from
Glasgow's celebrated RAINDOG company, directed by Caroline Patterson and
Stuart Davids. A heartrending account of the trials of two addicted runaways,
harrowing to watch, WASTED is a compassionate and fiercely believable vision
of street life. Also starring Emma Hartley Miller, David Hayman and Gary
Lewis – premieres at Cineworld 6, EIFF on June 19th at 21.10
and at Filmhouse 2 on June 20th at 22.15. KATE DICKIE
also plays a lead role in Paul Wright's 20 minuter produced by Young Films

up international distribution at Cannes and will be out before the end of
2009 ~ Likewise Northern Soul dance spectacular SOULED OUT, which is
completing further exciting dance photography for which Martin is
back through the time warp to the 70's shooting until mid-June ~ GORDON
BROWN and ANDREW FLANAGAN star opposite
Mads Mikkelson in Viking adventure VALHALLA RISING which rears up late summer
on general release ~ KATE DICKIE wrapped the
chilling thriller OUTCAST, co-starring James Nesbitt with SHONAGH PRICE in

DICKIE has wrapped
DIVE (a two-parter for Granada) written and directed by Dominic Savage,
playing the diving instructor to two teenage champion water babies in this
original coming of age drama ~ Then she moved on to Shed Media and 20-20 TV's
brilliantly scripted costume drama series about the London law courts of the
18th century - GARROWS LAW – now filming until July. This
series has a cream cast from all over the UK with Kate in a guest role in an episode about
the politics of the times while JULIE HALE (MY LEFT FOOT) guests in an episode as
an outspoken philanthropist while ANTHONY BOWERS plays the regular role of the Clerk of
the Court, guiding proceedings throughout. Wrapping
up: RIVER CITY
completes filming its first block for 2009 with GORDON MCCORKELL and EILEEN MCCALLUM as regulars Deek and Liz – joined
on screen this month by returning original cast member WILLIAM RUANE revisiting the role of Brian for a one
off special appearance and by MARTIN DOCHERTY in a terrific role as a common man
type Gas Engineer visiting almost every family in BBC Scotland's ongoing
serial ~ Martin has
also just wrapped ONE NIGHT IN EMERGENCY, a one off drama starring Kevin
McKidd which will screen on BBC later in the year ~ JORDAN YOUNG has been investigating urban crimes in
WHITEOUT for German TV, filming in
Berlin and in Edinburgh alongside JOHN YULE through May and June ~ DANI'S HOUSE is
shooting it's next series and JOHN P ARNOLD took the role of a Game Show Host
Vampire 'Vlad' (you don't get many of them on CBBC) ~ The
big one to watch this
month is the new Shed Media Alex Kingston and Annette Crosbie led 8 part
series HOPE SPRINGS on BBC1, starting its run at 8pm Sunday 7th
June – TONY MCGEEVER
is a regular in the large ensemble cast with LORNA MCDEVITT, GARY FRENCH and NICK FARR appearing in episodes across the
season ~ Being
PHENOMENAL is SAMANTHA
SHIELDS in the new TV
campaign for Irn Bru – she's the test-tube playing high school girl
leaping around on the side of buses in Scottish cities and all over STV
before she graduates the RSAMD musical course in September ~ And
coming to an end of it's run but bound to be repeated is a very special
season of original shorts made by Sorbier Films for BBC ALBA – eadar
chluich or
"Interlude" – is also available week by week on BBC iplayer

LEE are at the heart
of the company of the Pitlochry Festival season 2009 which opened it's season
with "WHISKY GALORE the Musical" with Dougal as Father McAlister and Greg as Dr McLaren (and lots of others!).
Then for the rest of the season DOUGAL plays the lead romantic role of Teddy Lloyd in THE PRIME
OF MISS JEAN BRODIE, David in Liz Lochead's GOOD THINGS and will be appearing
in THE SERVANT O' TWA MAISTERS as will GREG who also plays stuffy Gordon
Lowther in JEAN BRODIE and James Wylie in WHAT EVERY WOMAN KNOWS ~ MARTIN
DOCHERTY will be COOKING WITH ELVIS for director Andy Arnold at
the Tron in Glasgow, rehearsing from June 22nd and opening on July
10th running until July 25th – Then Martin joins
the cast of THE ELIXIR OF LIFE for Scottish Opera, directed by Giles
Havergal, in the non-speaking (or singing for that matter) comic signature
role of The Servant, rehearsing in August for an opening in September and
joining the Scottish opera repertoire on tour until November with weekly
performances only ~
After
a sell out award winning run on last year's Edinburgh Fringe, JORDAN YOUNG recreates his brilliant comic
performance in SLICK for Vox Motus Theatre, playing the lead role of troubled
tearaway Malcolm at the Cork Mid-Summer Festival 18th to 22nd

MCALPINE opens in
BALGAY HILL at Dundee on June 9th – this original play is based
on the work of Dundee hero and Associates (that's the popular pop rhythm
