SHOWCASES: We are proud to represent a considerable number of younger clients currently in training at RADA, RSAMD, Central, Guildford and QMUC Edinburgh. CHARLENE BOYD and ANGELA HARDIE both have showcases in Scotland and then in London in February. ANGELA HARDIE (QMUC) is at the Soho Studio on 12th Feb at 1.30pm ~ CHARLENE BOYD (RSAMD) is at the Criterion on 16th Feb at 1pm ~

SAMANTHA SHIELDS (RSAMD Musical Theatre postgrad) has a late spring show case ~ HELEN ARMES (GUILDFORD, Yo Diary) graduates in July, 2009 ~ SARA VICKERS (RADA, Taggart, Woman In Winter), RUTHIE MILNE (CENTRAL, Dr Who, Hallam Foe), TONY MCGEEVER (RSAMD, Hope Springs) and GARY FRENCH (RSAMD, Hope Springs, Gamerz, Still Game) all graduate in 2010 ~ KIRSTY MACKAY (RSAMD) graduates 2011 ~ Angela Hardie won rave reviews at Oran Mohr last year in her professional debut; Charlene Boyd has already played a recurring character in Taggart and led THE SNOW QUEEN at the Arches, Glasgow ~

 

 

NEW THEATRE NEWS

REBECCA MCQUILLAN opens at Windsor Theatre Royal on 3rd February in PACK OF LIES, directed by Christopher Morahan, starring Jenny Seagrove, Lorna Luft and Roy Marsden. This is a national tour produced by Bill Kenwright, with a planned West End season to follow. Coming to the Richmond Theatre on the 2nd March ~ EWAN DONALD and DONNA GIFFEN are in the smash hit Dundee Rep production of the Proclaimers musical SUNSHINE ON LEITH, now playing at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, at the end of a record breaking tour ~ GREG POWRIE and KIM GERARD triumph in THE MAN WHO HAD ALL THE LUCK (an early, little performed Arthur Miller play) directed by John Dove, at the Royal Lyceum, Edinburgh until 14th Feb. ~ ALISON PEEBLES leads David Leddy's ghostly extravaganza SUB ROSA at the Citizens, Glasgow, opening on 19th and running to 31st Jan ~ IAN GRIEVE directs gothic  comedy THE MYSTERY OF IRMA VEP for the Royal Lyceum and Horsecross, Perth, opening in Edinburgh on 20th Feb ~ SUSAN COYLE and REBECCA ELISE join the company at the Traverse, Edinburgh, for CLASS ACT 09, a series of works in progress ~ EILEEN MCCALLUM has been touring GRASSIC GIBBON, staged readings celebrating the author of Sunset Song, at venues all around his native Aberdeenshire  ~ SHONAGH PRICE features in the new BBC Radio 4 classic serial of SUNSET SONG, to be broadcast in the Spring ~

SHABANA BAKHSH is Jasmine Koreshi, back on top form in series four of Shed Productions hit pre-watershed drama WATERLOO ROAD.  Her romantic storyline carries through the whole season and is guaranteed to have fans wringing their hankies ~ NEW TOWN (previously titled PURVES AND PEKKALA) bursts onto BBC4 on Feb 14th at 9pm with JORDAN YOUNG, EWAN DONALD and JULIET CADZOW in featured roles in a quirky detective pilot from the pen of Annie Griffen (THE BOOK GROUP, FESTIVAL) ~ KATHLEEN MCDERMOTT has a guest lead role in CASUALTY (filmed in December, transmitting in March) opposite continuing regular JANINE MELLOR as Kelsey (heads up for a major storyline coming!) ~ Kathleen and ANTHONY BOWERS have been confirmed to star as Debbi and Dean in the new Ford Kiernan series HAPPY HOLLIDAYS  (with Karen Dunbar) filming in the Spring ~ And the final death knell for Kathleen in zombie game show horror E4s DEAD SET still hasn't sounded as it is now a big hit on cable in the USA ~ BRYAN LARKIN has the lead role in TOWNSVILLE; also starring JOHN PAUL HURLEY, this is a hi-tech green screen shot stylish police adventure story for BBC2 Scotland transmitting in March ~ EILEEN MCCALLUM and GORDON MCCORKELL continue as regular characters Liz and Deke, and watch out for JOHN YULE as butch hairdresser Gerard and JAMES WATSON as bee farming romantic interest Alain, in the revamped RIVER CITY (BBC Scotland), which resumes filming mid-February ~

JOHN PAUL HURLEY takes the lead role in THE DEATH OF THE HORSE (Bas an Heich) for Sorbier Films, shooting this month ~ BRYAN LARKIN has written, produced and stars in RUNNING IN TRAFFIC, starring Kenneth Cranham and ANNE DOWNIE, (www.runningintraffic.com). Check the website for the background on this brilliant micro-budget feature with a macro-heart ~

 

MHARI ANDERSON is simply stunning in the lead role in THE DAISYCHAIN, screening at Glasgow Film Festival 20th Feb and Dublin Film Festival Feb 21st ~

 

On general release: KATE DICKIE co-stars with MATTHEW WORKMAN in SUMMER. Directed by Kenny Glennan, Robert Carlyle plays the lead role (Kate is his Mum and Matthew his younger self) ~ KATE DICKIE is also out there in SOMERS TOWN, Shane Meadows award winning feature (EIFF Best British Film 2008) ~ Awaiting release: MARTIN COMPSTON plays John O'Hare in THE DAMNED UNITED (also featuring STEWART ROBERTSON as Archie Gemmill) to Michael Sheen's Brian Clough on general release from the end of March ~ Martin also has SOULED OUT (word on this Northern Soul Saturday Night Fever is really building) awaiting release in August this year (tbc) ~ And with KATE DICKIE and co-starring James Cosmo, Martin has ROUNDING UP DONKEYS, the companion film to their 2006 international hit RED ROAD,  also coming up ~
